Joshua Creek is one of Oakville’s most-desired communities. It’s hard to sum up what makes this community so attractive, but we’ll give it a shot. It’s newer, but old enough to have mature trees and gardens. It’s central to major industries like car manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, legal, insurance, and the new Trafalgar Hospital. And, finally, it is one of Oakville’s best school districts, with Iroquois Ridge Secondary School ranking in the top 10 of all Ontario high schools.

The location is also one of the leading reasons for its popularity amount working professionals. It’s close to the QEW, and the 403, as well as four major arteries: Ninth Line, Trafalgar, Dundas, and Upper Middle. It’s also just a 10 minute drive to the Go Train, which is the quickest way into Toronto’s core.

This community was built up in two phases. The first phase dates back to the mid 90s. These homes are found in the southend of Joshua Creek closer to Upper Middle Rd. The second phase was built in the mid-2000’s. The majority of homes in Joshua Creek are between 2500-3500 square feet. However, it’s not unheard of to find homes larger than 4000 square feet.

Design, Architecture, Culture

Since most of these homes are relatively newer, they feature contemporary floor plans. Many of these homes have 2-story entry ways, spiralling staircases, and large kitchens. A quick drive through the neighbourhood will show that every home features a solid brick exterior with stone detailing. We would be amiss to not mention the pride of ownership in this community. Many homes have been remodelled with new kitchens and washrooms, interlock patios, pools and more.

2-story homes are the predominant housing type in this neighbourhood, but there are bungalows, townhomes, and one condo building. The slightly smaller homes allow potential buyers to get into this coveted neighbourhood at a slightly lower price point. The bungalows are also a fantastic option for someone looking to downsize but remain in a detached home. Both families with small kids, and retirees are vying for the bungalows, so they sell quick.

Fernbrook, Mattamy, Ballantry, Dawn Victoria and Sundial are the primary builders in the this part of Oakville. These builders are known for their family-oriented floor plans. Most homes feature formal living and dining rooms at the front of the home, and large kitchens with open plan family rooms at the back of the home. They also have all the creature comforts like main floor laundry, mud rooms, dens, and ample storage.
